Lady Gaga Paparazzi This music video is made to look like a short movie, this has been created by the "Starring Lady Gaga" at the begininng of the video.This could have been done to show that the video has a plot and narrative.The video has a story about Lady Gaga being targeted by photographers and almost being killed by her boyfriend.The video then shows her surviving and seeking revenge.The video also shows the different experiences when on the road to fame. This narrative is portrayed in many different ways for example using props such as a wheel chair and crutches to show her near death experience however she's still walking which could be a connotation to the commitment of her career and that nothing will beat her.Also the video uses very quick scene changes, this could also be a connotation of the camera taking pictures. Bad Romance - Lady Gaga The music video includes Lady Gaga inside a surreal white bathhouse. Where she gets kidnapped by a group of supermodels who then drug her: Then sell her to the Russian Mafia for sexual slavery. The music video ends with Gaga killing the man who bought her. This music video connotes the meaning through using an appropriate location to film this video.The white floors and walls creates a sense of emptyness and has a cold sense to it.The location is meant to be for women used for sexual slavery,therefore any sign of comfort and warmth had to be eliminated to connote this meaning.This music video is dominatly from a pop genre,I can tell this by the use of set/dancing/costumes and the high technology being used in the editing stage.The costumes and make up used creates a sense of madness to the video as it is certaintly not the norm particulary when Lady Gaga's eyes seem to be extremly large which relates to the story of her being forced to take drugs.Towards the end of the video before Lady Gaga kills the man that brought her to the surreal bath house she is wearing animal fur with the head dragging across the floor, this immediatly shows her in control and looking like a queen ready to torture and get revenge. JUST DANCE LADY GAGA Genre: The Genre of this music video is pop.This is shown by the clothing/the appearence of the singer/the type of music being slightly cheesy and how the music video is portrayed for example a mixture of dancing and a scenario. Representation: The representation of this music video creates the idea of young people partying/drinking alcohol/sex.Most young adults are portrayed this way through stereotypes but I feel this music video reinforces it.This representation is designed to suit the songs lyrics. "Just Dance" automatically suggests a party/night club feel. Audience-I think the audience of this music video is mainly targeted to young people.I think this because the people in the music video are young and do similar things to what young people do today for example partying/alcohol.Also,"Lady Gaga" is a inspiration to young people because of what she wears and her individuality and young people may feel comftable with themselves and may even try to look like her.Therefore I believe this music video mainly has a audience for young people aged between 15-25. I feel this music video creates the meaning of "having a fun time at a party".I think this is created first of all by having lady gaga walk up to a house,which straight away gives the impression it's a house party. I feel the music video was made to make the party look fun and exciting for example: Pouring alcohol around gives the impression of releasing themselves and having a good time. Lots of people dancing/smiling Drinking alcohol in this video portrays a impression that it's fun,for example people smiling ,dancing and looking happpy under the influence of alcohol. People messing around/having fun. Music Creating the impression that it's a really energetic/lively party by having someone especially in charge of the music.It shows that music is one of the main features of the party. Also,I noticed that the music video was very fast moving and one clip only lasted between 1-3 seconds.This made the video seem even more energetic and lively and it matched the beat of the music. Lady Gaga Poker Face The genre of this music video is pop.This is shown with features similar to "Just Dance".An example being the clothes looking different/unique and revealing normally appeal to a mass audience (Pop).It is even reinforced in this video as she is wearing glasses with the words "POP". Representation- I think the representation in this video of women is that they dominate men.For example : This scene of the song portays lady gaga as a god by her white clothes and laying down in a comftable position whilst the man is tense and looks like a slave.Prehaps this video wants to create a representation of women being in charge of men. Narrative-I the narrative of this song and video is about being previously hurt by a man and wanting to get revenge "And after he's been hocked I'l play the one that's on his heart".I think it's also about a girl thinking shes worth more than the male "I'm not lying I'm just stunnin'".

I think the lightning in the background and Lady Gaga rising out of the pool creates a impression of a monster emerging and signifys danger is about to occur. Attracting lots of men The audience for this video is mainly for teenagers.The reasons for this are i feel teenagers would aspire to be like lady gaga in this video.I think this could be by her outrageous costumes and extreme dancing. Second Questionnaire This questionnaire was to gain a better insight as to what type of people like Lady Gaga's music.Therefore, I asked four questions. If they were male of female, therefore I knew which gender I was most appealing to.What their age was, so that I could see the dominant age group that liked Lady Gaga. I then asked what their occupation was,from this I could see which class they belonged to e.g ABC1 or C2DE.I then asked if they liked Lady Gaga, I could then compare that answer to all of the factors above to determine my target audience.

First Questionnaire I was interested to know what other people felt about Lady Gaga ,therefore I asked a mixed age group varying from 12-60 about their opinions of Lady Gaga.The two pie charts below are from a questionaire of 8 people from a range of age groups ranging from 12-60.

I feel that by doing this questionaire I have gained a deeper understanding of the popularity of Lady Gaga and her expectations.This has helped me understand what people look for in a Lady Gaga music video and therefore my group can insert these representations into our video.

However,although I am more aware of opinions of Lady Gaga, I am more so concerned about the type of people that enjoy Lady Gagas music e.g age/occupation and if they like her or not.I am going to conduct another questionaire to find this information.

Lady Gaga also appears in magazine front covers out of the UK.This shows how broad her audience and popularity has became.

This is a example of the type of fans Lady gaga has.This is from a facebook fan page of hers.As you can see the gender is very mixed.By the look of these images I would say she appeals more to the teenager generation.However the different fashion trends I can see from the image is very different.Therefore I would say Lady Gaga appeals to different types of people and not just one sterotype for example the boy holding the football troffy ( Fabiola Vulpiani)differs to the indie style boy (Robbie Goodman).

Lady Gaga has revieved more facebook friends than the president of America.This shows what a huge fan base she has.

Lady Gaga appeared on the front cover of a cosmopolitan magazine. Here I have looked at the type of people that read this magazine.I have found out from this information that people from the ABC1 catergory bought more of the cosmopolitan magazine than people from the C2DE band.Also,that people aged 14-44 are more likely to buy the magagazine than people that are aged 45+. This demonstrates the type of target audience that myself and my group need to aim our music video at.

Copyright is important in the music industry because it insures that other people can not steal or copy work that does not belong to them and get credit for it.Also, if copy right was not created people may not be as willing to share their ideas incase it got stolen.

SONG CHOICE

My groups chosen song is LADY GAGA-BROWN EYES We came to this decision as we all agreed that we liked Lady Gaga's music therefore we would be more keen to do a song of an artist that we all like.We all agreed that we liked the rhythm and speed of the song as it is fairly different to the other fast tempo tracks she has done previously, we found this would be a challenge. Also we all had ideas about which type of theme and story we wanted for our music video,therefore we felt it was a good choice. However we did have other songs in mind for example Taylor Swift-Fifteen.The reason we rejected this song was because we could only create the music video by the story-like music,we found it was not abstract enough and could look cheesy. We also looked at Cheryl Cole's music and we all agreed on a song that we liked which was called "The Flood" but we then realised she was releasing the single in the upcoming month with a music video therefore we had to discard this idea.
