Extra Points

-The rule of thirds is much like a grid where the points meet up and where these points meet is the main subject matter. We tryed to use rule of thirds in our music video for example:

We also wanted to achieve a eyeline match so that it appeared that the singer was addressing the audience for example:

We also used close up shots for more intimate parts to give the audience the impression of being close to the artist, for example:

REJECTED FOOTAGE

ADVERT

Flat Plan Adverts This is my first draft of the advert.I decidid that I really wanted the model to have a Lady Gaga style pose therefore I drew her to have her arm covering parts of her eye,I feel this reinforces the tittle of the album being "Pink Eyed Monster".I used very plain and bland colours for this first draft. This was from the inspiration of her album "The fame Monster" which uses very dark and bland colours.I decidid to go for this effect, however now I feel it would look alot better with colour.
Second Draft-For this Digipak cover I decidid to inject more bold colours and have a different pose for the model.Although it looks alot brighter,I feel there needs to be more of a colour scheme instead of random colours.I feel the orange shade lashes with the blonde hair, therefore I will need to pick contrasting colours when picking my colour scheme.

Third Draft-My other two covers are fairly similar, therefore I wanted a very different approach.I decidid to have a image of the models eye shaded in pink,I feel this would relate to the name of the album "Pink Eyed Monster".I decidid to carry on this "spooky monster" theme ,so I added spider webs around the letters.I thought this would provide detail and link in well with the tittle and image.I kept the colours fairly simple, however if I choose this design I would probably have the words "Lady Gaga" in red to connote horror and gore.

Editing This is my editing stages on Photoshop.

The stages I used on Photoshop are:

-A black background: I did this by creating a black shape in the size of the rectangle

-I then edited the main image. Firstly I used the gaussian blur to make the skin appear smoother, I then rubbed out the eyes/eyebrows/nose and mouth. I then added another layer of black on top of this image and rubbed out the corners to give a smoother line around the image.

- I then applied text , "Lady Gaga" being slightly larger to show that it is the focus of the advert

-I used the word "new" in a larger and bolder font to bring more attention to it

I am going to look at an advert of two artists in the same genre as my chosen artist.I will be looking at Katy Perry and Nelly as they are both in the same pop genre. Katie Perry's advert for the album"One of the boys" has a sweet childlike approach for example the paddling pool in the background with the two rubber ducks floating at the top connotes a sense of innorcence and childlike play. The cover uses bright vibrant colour such as pink/purple and blue these girly colours contrast to the tittle of the album "One of the Boys".Katy is dressed quite 50's style for example the high waisted shorts. The setting is a very iddylic and picturesque which adds to the innorcence and sweetness of the advert cover. Also, a colour pattern runs through this image for example the tittle of "One of the boys" is a pale blue which matches with the paddling pool and the blue sky.The white fence matches the text "The album Includes #1 smash hit 'I kissed A Girl' 22 September".The white also matches the clouds in the background. The pink colour of her top matches the pink words "Katy Perry".On the other hand the purple shorts contrast with all the colours which makes Katy stand out from the background.Persuasive language is used in this album for example "the #1 smash hit" , this rule of three works well together and reinforces the popularity of one of her songs."I kissed a girl" is in a slightly larger font, this was done to make the title seem eyecatching and for people to recognise the song and be more persuaded to buy the album. The words "Katy Perry" is in the largest font, this is for people to recognise the name and to show level of importance. The genre of this album cover is pop,we can tell this by the bright colours used and the cover looking fairly cheesy which relates to pop music. This advert uses a sweet and innorcent approach which relates to the target audience being young.
This advert cover comforms the same genre (pop) as my chosen artist Lady Gaga.I can see this by the way Nelly has been photographed. The main attention is on his body, we can see this by the way glimmers of light is shinning on his body ,yet his face is looking away and in a shadow. Also, the image takes up 3/4 of the page which shows that his body is the main attention of the advert. The genre pop is very concerned with appearence therefore one of the main features of this cover is Nelly chest. The muscles are very tensed in this image which gives the impression of bigger muscles which adds to his looks appeal.I feel the audience of this advert is for a young people audience, I can tell this by the font being quite Hip and Cool looking. The thickness of the text is quite large which creates a very bold and strong approach to the cover, this could relate to the image by the way nelly is holding himself it creates the idea of body strength. Also, by having the text more larger gives a more mascueline feel to the text.I also feel the target audience of this advert cover is shown by the image, for example young men will want to aspire to be like nelly and have the same body/looks and attention. Also young men will look up to his masculinity for example the way he is holding himself and clenching his fist. On the otherhand young girls will see the advert cover and admire Nelly and feel attracted to him. There is a ongoing colour scheme used in this advert ,which are very manly colours black/blue and white. The advert uses persuasive language such as "new" and "hit singles".Also, the cover mentions other artists in the same genre which will be featuring in the album, this is persuasive as it is reminding the target audience the bonuses of buying the album and all of the "extras".

Drafts Front Cover This is my first draft of my Digipak, the theme that I was going for was the style of Lady Gaga's album "The Fame Monster" which had a horror theme to it which is what I tyred to create with this cover.I decided to use a hospital breathing monitor as the mouth,I did this to be creative and different which is like Lady Gaga's style. Also, I liked this idea as at the end of the curvy lines ,it goes straight. This creates a sense of death which relates to my theme being horror and the album cover being "Pink Eyed Monster". I also decided to use bold and heavy make up to make her look more spooky looking.I feel the cover lacks colour scheme as they are very random colours, therefore if I decided to use this design I will keep to a colour scheme such as red and black. Inside cover: For the inside cover I really wanted to carry on the idea of a horror theme however to keep it simple.I also feel that it should be slightly girly as I choose the colour "Pink" for the tittle Pink Eyed Monster. For the inside I included a personal message " Thankyou for all of your love and support, this album is dedicated to you guys".I felt that by adding a personal message it will make the cover more personal. When I drew this I wasn't too sure on what the colours would be,I wanted to see what the layout was overall to decide what colours would look best.Overall,I think the most suitable colour would be black and pink as the black can relate to the horror theme and the pink can relate to the tittle "Pink Eyed Monster".
Second Draft Front Cover This is my second draft of my front cover.I kept to a fairly bland colour scheme however injected colour into the extreme make up.This is where I experimented with the tittle so I changed it to "Brown Eyed Monster" instead of "Pink Eyed Monster".Looking back I feel the tittle should be made alot bigger and the pose could be more Lady Gaga style. Also the backcover I was looking to do an old fashioned letter style and had a feather pen in the corner.Although the drawing isnt very clear, I feel that the idea will link to the part of the music video where Lady Gaga is reading the suicide letter from her boyfriend.

Inside Cover: The inside cover I made to look pink and girly to contrast with the outside cover.I also really liked the idea of having a personal message in my previous draft, therefore I carried this on.If I choose to do this I would like to use a font which looks handwritten as it would make it appear more personal.

Third Draft - Front Cover

My previous drafts looked fairly bland and colourless, therefore I wanted this cover to look exciting and bright.Especially as my chosen genre is Pop I want it to look fairly cheese. The theme I was going for is the same model but in different styles e.g nerdy/horror/girly/upset , I wanted to do this to show the different fazes teenagers can go through and the different emotions during adolscene.I felt that due to the target audience being dominatly teenagers I would try and appeal to this audience. Here I used the same " Freak like me" to relate to young peoples insecuritys as they are growing up and to inspire to be different.

Inside Cover: As my front and back cover was extremly detailed, I felt that the inside should be kept simple.I decidid to use glitter to represent a effect on photoshop or indesign.I feel looking back I should have made the inside cover slightly more detailed and the background should be black to make the colours stand out alot more.

Girls Aloud Digipak Analysis I have decided to look at the front cover of the tangled up tour by Girls Aloud.I decided to look at Girls Aloud as they are in the same genre (Pop) as my chosen artist Lady Gaga.Firstly the image used is of the group during the concert, they are all in a very strong body posture although they were not posing for the camera. This teases the audience to give a glimpse of what the concert was like, they used very striking images of each band member to make the concert appear more exciting. As they were all in different poses it gives a busy sense to the front cover that everything is happening all at once, again this also gives the impression that the concert was daring and exciting.Furthermore, the image is the main focus of the front cover, this could also be to admire their looks. As they are in the Pop genre, most girls in this catergory are equally looked at for their talent and their appearence. Therefore, it is very important to have their image as the main focus of the cover. The colours used are dominatly black and a purple/pink colour. This colour looks as though an effect has been done to make it look like camera lights. The font is very thin ,this could connotate feminity and the preasure of their body shapes being extremly thin.

Photo shoot for Digipak This image would have looked better if she was looking at the camera.
This image has a few strands of her natural hair coming out of the wig.
I feel she looks too smiley here which isn't really Lady Gaga's style
I quite like this image, although it could be improved by photographing on a blank background, however it can be edited in photoshop.
I feel the brightness here makes the image more visually appealing however I am not keen on the pose.
The model is looking too far away which makes the eyes look out of place here
Although the pose is fairly Lady Gaga style, the lips look overly pouted
I feel the model is too close to the camera here
This image would look better if the image was cropped to remove the underarm
The right eye looks slightly out of place here
This image is slightly blurred
I am really happy with this image,I feel the pose is extremly LadyGaga style and it is a interesting position.
I really like this image, although the background would need to be removed on photoshop.
I like the clear use of eye contact in this image
I feel the face is too covered here

I feel this pose comforms Lady Gaga style but I dont think the angle is right for this pose
I really like the lighting in this image

Fairly dark but I like the pose here and the way the models arm is resting on her head.
I dont really like the way she is looking away here
Although the sunglasses looked good at the time,I dont feel they look appropriate as the camera flash reflects in the glasses.
I like the pose here and lighting is very good.I also like the way the hair is resting on the bed.
Good eye contact,Good lighting and appropriate pose.
I really like this image, I feel the pose and angle fit in extremly well together.
Don't really like the way the model is not making eye contact here

I feel this image is too close and does not have enough of her hair in.
Dont like the way the model is looking away from the camera
I feel this shot could have looked better if it was not face on.If the camera was higher and the model was looking upwards at the camera it would make her eyes look less tierd.
Too far away from the camera here
Good,clear shot here

Good, although some hair on her shoulder would have looked better

Some natural hair coming through the wig

Natural hair coming through the wig
Too smiley
Too Smiley

Really like the pose here and the wig looks very good!
Natural hair coming through here

A Digipak is a "patented style of compact disc or DVD packaging".The style of the digipak normally links to the style of the artist for example lady gaga being retro unique and unexpected.

The video and digipak should be linked so that an audience can see that their is a on going theme and that they are both linked in some sense. For example if it had a horror/love/happy/ colourful theme then this idea would need to be put across in all of the products to make all of them work together and look as though they belong together.
